BROTHERLY LOVE

I miss all of you tremendously, but when you feel The Spirit of the work, it changes all the worries and fears, and you feel at home and peace.  Gettin the electronic updates on wednesday!! I'll let ya know how they are, but sound like they will be great!  Biking is great, gettin me much more in shape... especially the legs haha! but very flat, and small area, 1 mile by 3 miles. The ward is great and the ward mission leader is like a dream leader! I went on splits with him, and we taught The Restoration to an investigator named Marissa! She felt The Spirit! And we recently went back and taught the Plan of Salvation. We hope to see her tonight! Gettin groceries today. All is well, cloths are great, getting fed almost every night, and great members. I miss you tons, but keep being a good kid! The secret to missionary work is found in two scriptures, Mark 5:36, and D&C 4:5. Have some great missionary moments and remember... INVITE people, or else they won't change :)
I know this Gospel is true and that Christ is our Savior. He loves each and every one of us and wants us to return home to Father in Heaven. Go forth in faith little bro and all will be well. :)
Love, Elder Apsley :)

LIFE @ THE MTC

Left to Right... Elder Todd, Elder Williams, Elder Mahlandt, Elder Apsley, Elder Hill, Elder Guthrie :)

Hello Family! So this will be a letter to all of ya'll in one if that's okay!
The MTC is awesome and very very challenging! You are studying so often it feels like one huge lesson haha, and it is awesome! I love being with my companion Elder Williams, he is more on the quiet side but makes me laugh a ton :) He is 21 and awesome, in fact whenever I don't know what to say... he's right there!
The other two roommates I have are Elder Mahlandt and Elder Hill, with Elder Guthrie and Elder Todd in our district along with Sister Forsen and Sister Stirm... like stir and mmmh :)
I'm eating I promise :) haha!
And today is our preparation day so we got to go to the temple too! It was awesome awesome! Oh, my scripture... Mathew 28:19-20... or whichever the last two verses in the last chapter of Matthew are.
The pants are here! And scripture study is great! You know it's totally different now cause so much time is devoted to group study and study for others you hardly have time to personal study for yourself. But that's what being a missionary is, sacrifice and it's neat how when you are sacrificing things you love, you find answers to your own questions too in there :)
Yes the temple was amazing, I miss going so much and I miss you all very much. I've had a couple o hard moments, but that's just part of being a missionary too, life is about tough and good times, and strange enough the tough times make the good ones way way better! :)
I am excited to get into the field and get working!!
Elder Oaks came to speak to the MTC 's around the world and he spoke on what makes The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints the only true and living church on the face of the whole earth! He said, 1:Fullness on doctrine, 2: Power of the Priesthood, and 3: Unique Testimony of Jesus Christ. It was neat because in Sacrament Meeting a member of our Branch Presidency also spoke on what sets Christ's church apart from all other churches! And I had been praying about those things too, God answers prayers! He also answered a prayer of a 14 year old boy named Joseph Smith when He appeared to him in the Sacred Grove. There He 'extended an invitation' to hear His Son, or to follow Him :) And it is only through Jesus Christ we can be free from sin and be saved in the next life and I know that's true :)
Tan, how is school goin?? Seminary goin well too? Yup I'm eating haha and thank you tons for the packages! From everyone! They are so fun to get, It's gonna take me a long time to eat all that food haha!
Mom, thank you for all the help packing and preparing me to be here. I would not have been able to make it if it weren't for ya :) how's preschool going? Fun with the new little boy?
Dad, that journal entry was awesome haha and I can relate... you get tired here! But it's a good tired! Haha and some of the Elders in our building quote Nacho Libre! and this is from Su Hijo :)
So we're teaching two people here, our teacher's friend Jessica (our teacher just plays the part) and a Progressing Investigator George Seapol... if you forward this to Joses tell him I thought about him because of that name :)
Jessica has read the introduction to the Book of Mormon and some of the beginning 1 Nephi. She committed to come to Church with us and has prayed and said she will be baptized if she comes to know it is true!
George is a totally different story, he is a war vet and has had a prosthetic leg for around 3 years. He has read some of The Book of Mormon, likes Lehi's dream, and believes it is true :)
He said he has prayed and heard God's voice. A member came to see him in the hospital after hearing that he had his leg taken off, and she also had the same thing happen. So he believes that she was an angel sent from God! :) And he said he is coming to Church this sunday with a neighbor who has been watching over him when his wife would leave to do things.  And he said he wants to be baptized but is not sure how his wife will take it, so we're gonna talk to him about Lehi's dream and how Lehi had to partake of the fruit before he called his family to him, hopefully that will work!
Love ya'll and I'm continuing to keep you in my prayers. Tell me about your missionary moments! And Tan, if you could get me Menna's email somehow... that would be awesome!! :)
The Atonement is real and is the enabling power that allows us to become like our Father in Heaven, even though that may be a long ways away :)
Love you all and I know it's all true! :)

Love Elder Apsley! :)

First Night at the MTC

Dear Family,

I love you so much.  :)  Thanks for the great trip out to Utah and for the General Conference experience that we got to go to together.  I loved it.  :)

Today was amazing!  Crazy, good, uplifting, overwhelming and peaceful.  :)  My companion's name is Elder Williams!  He reminds me of Gabe Navarro, my old friend from choir. :)  He is so so awesome and funny and makes me feel good. :)

We started by meeting our District, and then the MTC Presidency.  They are so wonderful. :) They talked about a scripture in Mark 5, "be not afraid, only believe."  And I really loved that, it really helped me a lot. :)

Dinner was great, still preparing for Arizona by eating stuff like green beans and mashed potatoes, (don't worry, I ate a large piece of chicken)...(and a roll too).

A crazy teaching experience with my meeting after.  3 "houses" and 3 totally different people, it taught me a lot.  Teach people what they need.  Love people for who they are, as Christ loves them. :)

Great times, played the piano for our zone too! :)  2 other piano players!  Love it! :)

Well, I love ya'll!  Thanks for everything, especially Dad's blessings, Tan's personality, and Mom's prayers and love.  I love my companion & learned...forget yourself & start thinking of others.  :)

I know Christ is my Savior, and I believe this Church is so true! :)  I love you and love how well you've raised me. :)  Keep it up & the chicken is in the pot...Milk it! :)

Love, Elder Apsley :)

It's not goodbye...it's just "see ya on the flip side!"

Photo: My buddy Abner as he leaves to serve a 2-year church mission. Words can't even express how much we already miss him. But we are so proud of him and know he is going to be (actually he already is) great. :)
